Subaru Legacy Concept
After showing us a teaser last month, Subaru today took the covers off of its new 2009 Subaru Legacy Concept which it says hints at the future Legacy design language. The future Legacy may be slightly roomier since the design concept sits on a larger 108.3-in. wheelbase that will comfortably accommodate 4-adults. Power comes from a 3.6L Boxer engine coupled with Subaru’s All-Wheel Drive system.
Besides the aggressive front fascia and the expressive body, the interior features a 4-seat layout that showcases what Subaru calls the “High Definition” design theme. A large touch-screen is at the center console and controls various functions of the car. Steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters also hint at new options on the future Legacy model. The Subaru Legacy concept also features a in-car entertainment system with monitors fitted in the rear of the front seat headrests.
Don’t expect features like the monitor for the Side Rear Vision Camera to make it into production.

Camaro fans have been waiting for the return of the badge since the fourth-generation model ended production in 2002. With the help of South Korean designer Sangyup Lee, GM surprised us all with the Chevrolet Camaro Concept at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. Both V6 models return a fuel-economy of 26mpg with a 0-60 time of 6.1 seconds.

The 8-wheel, all-electric Eliica, from Japan's Keio University, shown in Tokyo in December 2005.
Those of us who expect to shell out $320,000 for a luxury car by 2030 should keep an eye on Keio University in Japan. That was the going rate for the Eliica, an 8-wheel electric car designed by Keio engineers when it debuted as a prototype in 2005 [source: Gizmag]. Each of the Eliica's wheels has its own 100-horsepower electric motor, making the car capable of high speeds and smooth handling [source: Auto Express]. In fact, although the Eliica lacks an engine and transmission, the electric motors driving the car can produce speeds of up to 230 miles per hour [source: Gizmodo].
Ultimately, the idea of luxury comes down to the car buyer's ability to get exactly what he or she wants. Automaker BMW is looking to have that market cornered with its GINA (Geometry and Functions in 'N' Adaptations) concept car. This luxury convertible concept car only loosely resembles an automobile. It has an engine (and a high-powered one at that), wheels, steering and the like. But it's also a vast departure from traditional sports cars. The exterior is made from a sleek, durable fabric that covers a lightweight aluminum frame. This fabric is water-resistant and also resists cold and heat, so to the car's occupants, it feels like driving in a car with a traditional composite or metal body [source: Motor Trend].
But the fabric allows for the GINA's most interesting feature: the ability to reconfigure the car's body. So, for example, if the driver wants the spoiler up, he or she simply presses a button and the spoiler swells beneath the car's fabric skin [source: Car and Driver].
Even with concept cars that have been prototyped and put on display, the future of luxury still remains decidedly difficult to pin down. But if any of the ideas being batted around the automotive design industry today make it into production, you may want to start saving up for your 2030 luxury car right now.

FAB Design S-Class W221
Mercedes sales figures, job cuts, the James Cook... blah, blah, blah.
As you're scanning the current crop of stories, I already know what you're thinking - financials are great, but I need to customize my ride, dammit. I can't have Reggie Bush out rollin' in his CLS Shark II, while I'm sittin' in my stock Benz. Help me eMercedesBenz, help me.
If I'm speaking to you - if you're ready to outshine Reggie and any other professional athletes, today is your day. Why? Because I am officially proclaiming that today is FAB DESIGN day. The next three stories... nothing but tuning goodness, courtesy of FAB DESIGN.
I'm going to kick things off with my personal favorite, the FAB DESIGN kit for the always illustrious 2007 Mercedes S550.
As is the case with most tuners, FAB began the transformation by adding a front spoiler, side skirts and a new rear bumper, offering customers a simple yet sporty enhancement to vehicle's already elegant curves.
To further enhance the S's exterior appearance, 20" three-piece forged wheels and stainless steel quad exhausts add an additional spark to further set you apart from your non-tuner brethren.
And finally, to make sure you can escape the crowds that are sure to gather to get a glimpse of your freshly-tuned luxury sedan, a 540 horsepower FAB DESIGN supercharged V8 is offered, capable of accelerating from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 184 mph. Not too shabby.
This very spacious Mercedes S Class limousine will cosset its passengers with its quiet, effortless ride, afforded by the generous leg room, double glazing, and reclining rear seats. Finished in a beautiful deep blue to complement the Rolls-Royce or indeed stand in its own right as a car with incredible presence that turns heads.
Maybach 62 Landaulet to enter
In what is set to be the world's most expensive production drop-top, the Maybach 62 Landaulet is set to enter production sometime this year and will set you back a cool US$1.19 million for the base model.Despite selling only 400 cars worldwide last year, the ultra-luxury car maker clearly believes the Landaulet model can overturn its fortunes by creating a niche market with an exclusive luxury car that features a large folding roof for passengers in the rear
Another Luxury car for you Gazz, The 2003 Cadillac Sixteen Concept.
This car cost $1,000,000 to build because of the level of luxury and concept features in it. However, the bit that intersts me, is that the engine block itself is cut from a solid block of aluminum heres a pic.Now isn't that one great looking engine. Its a 13.6 liter, V16 engine, that delivers 1000 bhp. And has a really cool feature called Displacement on Demand, which automatically shuts down half of the cylinders when they're not needed, to save fuel, and reactivates them when they are needed, like during fast acceleration

Muscle Cars 365- 2008 Camaro
For our muscle cars 365 discussion-the 2009 Chevy Camaro is our topic of choice. This car has been around for decades and has by far proven itself trustworthy and reliable. It̢۪s been consistently powerful on the road as well an attention catcher due to its sleek outward body style alone. It comes in all sorts of colors as do many other muscle cars used for events such as racing. This car is not only sexy, but it̢۪s built for performance. Camaros come with performance breaks appearing to be made by Brembo. It̢۪s new body style for 2009 makes it looks similar to a Dodge Charger, except it̢۪s two-door.
Jaguar XF 2009
Jaguar XF 2009 is the new midsize sedan. This is definitely a new jaguar with excellent ergonomics and quality of the interiors. The most uncommon feature is the split folding rear seat and enough room for keeping long items like skies, etc. Most competitors have only fixed rear seat. There is also lot of head and leg room.
Jaguar XF 2009 is a good modernizing step. It has a keyless start button. Just hold the start button down and the car will come alive. In terms of other drama, when you turn on the air-conditioning, the vents that are closed open up. Then there are many small little additional features like illuminated doors and handles, audio and climate control on home screen, darker colors, etc. It is the collection of such small things that give 2009 model of Jaguar XF a different look. They go together to make the car interesting and something to show off. Good move for jaguar.

Jaguar XJR
Some cars are simply the stuff that dreams are made of. Cars that handle superbly, are pure luxury to sit in, look like works of art and have all the power and performance that modern technology can offer. Cars like the Jaguar XJR..
The Jaguar XJR is one of those cars that turns heads, whether it's cruising on the open road or is parked at the kerb. And no wonder. The first things that catch the attention, apart from the long, low, lean bodyshape, are the jewel-like twin headlights. These are particularly eye-catching at night when the bi-xenon bulbs illuminate the road for a long way ahead. If you look closely at the sleek lines of the Jaguar XJR, you may detect a series of small round "dimples" in the bumper. These may look like a small aesthetic detail, designed to give the Jaguar XJR a touch of distinctive charm. But these little beauty spots are more than just that; these are the sensors for the Jaguar XJR's brilliant parking assist system that beeps to warn the driver of unseen obstacles getting too close. The Jaguar XJR sits on 20" inch alloy tyres that add a sporting touch to the classical lines of the body.

2009 BMW
It's a year of firsts for BMW. Recently, BMW released its all-new 1-Series, a model that has already met with much critical and public praise, and now has released the first-ever M3 with a V-8 engine. What does this mean for the 2009 BMW M3?
Well, for starters, the 2009 M3 can transmit 414 horsepower to its rear-wheel drive with its close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox, with peak torque climbing up to a lofty 295 pound-feet, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 in an impressive 4.8 seconds and reach an overall 155 mph. Adding to the year of firsts is the M3's interesting roof design. BMW claims it is the first production vehicle in its segment with a roof made of reinforced carbon fiber, a tactic often used in professional racing sports to lower overall vehicle weight, and drop the center of gravity. This enhances the speed, nimbleness and handling of the vehicle, making the M3 yet another perfectly-optimized Ultimate Driving Machine. Throw in weight-optimized aluminum components, and other little feats of weight engineering, and you can see the intent within the design- to make the lightest, most responsive and powerful production vehicle that can be made. BMW pays attention to all the little details, and they all add up to an incredible driving experience.
Aesthetically, the 2009 BMW M3 has a lot going for it as well. Almost everything on the vehicle has been carefully redesigned. Its body features such as the flared wheel arches, air-intake scoops, dual tailpipes and side sills are all custom-designed for the 2009 M3. A careful 50/50 weight balance on the axles truly makes this a chassis designed to be "faster than its engine". All and all, it has an athletic, sporting stance that separates it from the competition.

BWM finally showed off its two-mode hybrid system (the first BMW with two-mode hybrid system) at Frankfurt Motorshow, the idea behind this concept car is “merging the athletic aesthetics of a true sports car with the versatility of an SAV resulted in a new vehicle category that so far has not been realised” as stated on the bmw website. Quoted from Chris Bangle as Chief of Design for BMW Group about bmw concept x6 : “a good concept realizes itself in a short amount of time”. There is no official technical statement from BMW about this BMW X6, but the hybrid system expected to improve fuel efficiency by 20 percent. This car was only a concept till now, I believe this is going to be the basic of the next model bmw car.
Royal Rolls For Sale: Style, Luxury Inbred
Here's your chance to buy the "Rolls Royce of Rolls Royces," a pristine 1954 Phantom IV H.J. Mulliner Limousine, and one of only 18 built. This particular example belonged to Princess Margaret, the only member of the British royal family known to have engaged in a life-or-death struggle with her breakfast. Phantom IVs were only available for purchase to royalty or heads of state, and came equipped with a 5.7-liter side-valve straight-eight and the all-important four-bottle "drinks cabinet."
Princess Margaret's Phantom IV was a gift from Queen Elizabeth II, who had just purchased herself a Rolls Royce Phantom IV Hooper landaulette; she wanted Margaret to have a Phantom IV H.J. Mulliner limousine, just like her first one. How sweet. No word on what kind of mileage the big Rolls limo gets, but with that back seat it sure would make a sweet summer road trip ride.

After first showing the MKT in concept form at last year’s Detroit Auto Show, Lincoln unveiled the 2010 production model of the striking crossover at this year’s event. The three-row MKT is larger than the current two-row MKX crossover and joins the recently revealed MKZ sedan as part of Lincoln’s refreshed 2010 lineup. Priced to start at $44,995, the MKT is clearly positioned at the mid-level luxury segment, especially once one moves up to the more powerful EcoBoost engine and AWD drivetrain, which starts at $49,995. An 'Elite Package' is available for an additional $5,000, which includes adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support, blind spot information system, cross traffic alert, voice-activated navigation and a power-opening panoramic sunroof. Showcasing the latest iteration of Lincoln’s new design language, the MKT features a split waterfall grille, a beveled chamfer along its shoulder line, a flowing cantrail that frames the windows and full-width horizontal taillamps spanning the liftgate. Inside, there are leather-trimmed seats, floating armrests, and an optional flow-through second-row center console and LED-detailed instrument cluster.

Rolls Royce
I suppose practicality is not really even a concern when designers pay their own “tributes” to classic cars. And trust me this is the only reasonable explanation I could come up with for this new-Gothic, ultra-futuristic interpretation of the classic Rolls Royce. Even though the philosophy behind the Rolls Royce Apparition created by designer Jeremy Westerlund is to be seen, but at the same time being invisible or an “Apparition”, the lack of room for housing passengers, or even a driver for that matter, really disturbs the tradition-loving mind.
Maserati Quattroporte
When cultural historians get around to sorting out the golden age of bling, we’d bet big money this vehicle will emerge as the era’s poster car. It’s not a distinction Maserati set out to achieve, and the term makes at least some folks from the engineering and product-planning ranks wince when they hear it. But there’s no denying the Maserati's popularity with various high-visibility individuals — professional athletes, X-gamers, pop stars — and there’s no denying that, as a consequence, the new Maserati had to upstage the bling quotient of its predecessor.
